Jeanne is brought by a group of rebels to the place she is to be executed. During this road to her death, she thinks about the capricious fate which led her to this situation. From her childhood in her parents’ butcher shop at the dawn of the 20th century, to her years of wandering in Paris, her encounters with the dauntless Céleste, then with Guillaume of Barante, her adventures in the War, in Brasilia or during the Années folles, up to her fulfilled dream of becoming a countess. Jeanne made her way through the century like a long flight forward that ultimately brings her to her fall.
